Dr. Anita Punjabi is a board-certified Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine specialist passionate about empowering patients through education, preventive care, and sustainable lifestyle changes. She brings over a decade of experience in outpatient and academic settings, combining evidence-based medicine with a personalized approach to wellness.
Dr. Punjabi earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the University of North Texas Health Science Center. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Methodist Dallas Medical Center and later served as an academic hospitalist. While there, she led educational initiatives, supervised resident training, and contributed to board preparation and continuing medical education.
From 2016 to 2023, Dr. Punjabi practiced at Baylor Scott & White – DDA Garland as part of the Health Texas Provider Network, focusing on internal medicine and obesity management. In 2023, she joined Medical Specialists Associated (MSA) Dallas, where she practices alongside eight other dedicated physician partners. She values the autonomy and patient-centered care that independent practice offers and firmly believes that independent physicians are the future of medicine.
With a background in computer science and prior experience as a software engineer, Dr. Punjabi brings a unique analytical perspective to medicine, blending technology, research, and compassionate care to improve patient outcomes.
Outside the clinic, she is a dedicated mother, fitness enthusiast, and active member of her children’s school community. Her professional interests include nutrition and exercise physiology, diabetes and endocrinology, natural and preventive medicine, and the socioeconomics of healthcare.
Dr. Punjabi is a proud member of the Obesity Medicine Association and the American College of Physicians. She believes in meeting patients where they are and guiding them toward long-term health and wellness.
